Cliven Bundy's Heroic Stand Against A Fascist gOvernment

Hyperbolic partisan scumbags on the lEft (including one sEnate mAjority leader by the name of hArry rEid) have referred to the heroic Bundy as a "domestic terrorist". However, Bundy's racially-tinged comments as of late notwithstanding, the Bundy family has been grazing on that land for well over a century. Then Ronald Reagan comes along and decides ranchers who graze their cattle on public land should pay a fee?

And now, after 25 years of disobeying the law and not paying those fees (fees the BLM SAYS are for "upkeep" of the land), suddenly and astoundingly the fEds show up and attempt to strongarm Mr. Bundy into paying? Is the BLM the maffia of our public lands? Did Cliven not pay his "protection money"??

And, those endangered turtles haven't been harmed. Gadzooks, wouldn't you think that the feds would have a lot more important things to do than to hassle this poor bastard (you know, stuff like fighting ACTUAL CRIME)? I mean, talk about an astounding over-reach!

Sure, as some point out the fees for grazing cattle on private lands are astoundingly lower and Cliven is getting a free ride by not paying (and grazing his cattle for no cost at all), but astoundingly approximately 80% of Neveda is "federal land" if I understand it correctly.

What astounds me more than anything is that this exists and what confounds me is why it was allowed to happen. Cliven Bundy should be allowed to purchase the land he grazes his cattle on, and that million he supposedly owes could go toward the purchase price.

Yeah, then he would have to pay for upkeep of the land if he owned it, and likely it would end up costing him even more to graze his cattle if he owned the land instead of just mooching from those who do own it. And Cliven may like mooching just fine and decline to purchase the property... but... hmm, I'm not sure where I was going here.

Oh well. Right or wrong, I'm still pulling for Bundy. Because I hate sTatism. Perhaps the fEderal gOvernment could sell off some of the 80% (Wikipedia has it at 86%) of the land it owns and use the money to help pay down the debt. It sounds astoundingly like a win-win to me.

But methinks the only problem (for the feds anyway) is that at the point of sale it ceases to be the cash cow that keeps on giving. Or perhaps better put the cash cow they could no longer milk (even though the BLM charges significantly LESS than what private landowners charge for grazing).

Yeah, I think the facts says that Cliven is the one "milking" the BLM by grazing his cattle for free... but Lying Lester does not concern himself with such trivial matters as facts when it comes to getting outraged at the gOvernment. No siree!
