Our sTatist POTUS bArack oBama Encouraging Thievery!

A Common man takes a risk when he attempts to become an entrepreneur. If he steps out on his own and becomes his own boss one of the largest consequences is that he loses his employer-provided health insurance. One of the benefits of the ACA is that entrepreneurs risking it all don't have to risk their health as well. With the ACA affordable health care is still available to them.

Other social sAfety nEt programs are there to catch people if they fail, thus encouraging more to become entrepreneurs; and shouldn't our government encourage entrepreneurship? Our sTatist president thinks so...

President Barack Obama, 12/4/2013: The idea that together we build this safety-net, this base of support – that allows all of us to take risks, and try new things, maybe try – get a new job – because we know that there's this base that we can rely on. (An excerpt from "Remarks by the President on Economic Mobility").

This is a very good thing in the eyes of rational people, but Lying Lester is not rational. The way I see it, the problem with social sAfety nEts is that they encourage risky behavior. When you remove consequences, society's actions can become irresponsible.

Our sTatist pResident who is obviously in love with the idea of the sTate providing a sense of security for all it's citizens, at the expense of the liberty of our wealthy aristocracy, of course.

I mean, the way things are now people are afraid to leave their jobs and lose their health care. They could actually endanger their lives, or the lives or their loved ones. Binding someone to a job out of fear is a good thing in Lying Lester's opinion.

Why? Because if workers suddenly think they can take a risk and start their own business, then their employers lose a worker and potentially gain a competitor. This would, of course, make the goal of concentrating wealth at the top a little more difficult.

We need workers afraid and (therefore) compliant. We do NOT need thousands of entrepreneurs creating wealth stealing from the large corporations by becoming competitors!

The way to keep workers afraid and compliant is to get rid of as much of the gOvernment provided social sAfety nEt as possible. Then employers can take advantage of workers (lower wages, cut benefits, etc) without fear of employees who want to "be their own boss".

That is why, if any worker should seek to become an entrepreneur, they should be risking their very lives. But this foolish man, and I use the term loosely, thinks it should be encouraged by the sTate promising to catch them if they fall?

Lying Lester strongly objects. Entrepreneurship is a thing that should be discouraged, as a form of "wEalth rEdistribution". Redistribution, in that the gOvernment takes money from people who work to fund the sAfety nEt programs, but also redistributive in that a former employee might decide to become his own boss - and then "redistribute" money that would have gone to his employer to himself!

Think about it: if a worker becomes his own boss and succeeds... the fruits of his labor will be all his! The entrepreneur's success is therefore a theft from his former employer.

The bottom line is this: Stop entrepreneurship (or strongly discourage it by eliminating/gutting social sAfety nEt programs) and decrease thieving from the wealthy class.

That the sOcialist oBama wants the liberty of our wealthy citizens to not be stolen from infringed upon is shameful in Lying Lester's opinion.

Lying Lester Says The Nation Is In Crises Thanks To sTatism

The Constitution of the United States of America. Important to many, ignored and or misinterpreted by many as well, including Lying Lester himself. There are those who are strict constructionist who believe in following the letter of the document. And there are those who believe it is a living document and must change to conform to the changing times.

There is validity to only one of those positions. Although as an independent conservative, and one who places great stock in history and what it can teach us, Lying Lester wrongly tends to side with the strict constructionists more often than not.

It is becoming increasingly clear that our nation has become so polarized that ideology takes precedent over reason and common sense. It is clear that the fringe element of the the lIberal dEmocratic party and the fringe element of the conservative rEpublican party are controlling the debate.

Lying Lester suffers from none of those problems, as I, as a follower of Ayn Rand's Objectivism, lack both reason AND common sense. Yeah, I like to talk up the "fact" that I possess both of these qualities in spades (much more so than the common man or woman), but that is complete bullshit.

Anyway... back to the point I was making, which involves me asking if it is any wonder that our gOvernmemnt, as bad as it has become, is unable to draw logical and reasoned conclusions from valid data and make appropriate decisions that will resolve our national crises?

Call this a rant of a drunk old senior citizen like many do when I spout off and start speaking gibberish. But the reality is we are a nation in trouble. Both fiscally and ethically. No matter how much we equivocate, or attempt to avoid the "truth", it remains that both lIberals, dEmocrats, conservatives, rEpublicans, and every shade in between (except for Objectivist Libertarians such as myself) has a shared responsibility for our current situation.

Therefore, does it not stand to reason we have a shared responsibility to find reasonable and workable solutions to our shared problems?

The deficit problem will not go away by ignoring it. It is the result of many things, but the bottom line is we have spent more than we have. We have been doing so for a very long time. Nevermind the fact that you've got to spend money to make money or that a household budget can absolutely not be compared to a government's budget. These are two false talking points Lying Lester will continue to use to obfuscate the truth (the actual truth, and not the "truth" I prefer).

The national obligations, both to our people and our foreign creditors will not go away by themselves. Not raising the debt limit and defaulting on our "past obligations", IE: money previously borrowed and already spent, will not resolve our crises.

The answer seems fairly simple. We must significantly cut spending, sacred cows {such a the MIC} must to be on the chopping block, we must reform and simplify the tax code {including lowering taxes on "rich" people); we must eliminate regulations that make us non competitive (as not polluting the environment costs rich people money); we must encourage and give business incentives to stay in the USA, and we must reform the entitlements the parasites among us love so much.

We must also be willing to accept that even given three or four trillion in cuts over ten years we may need to accept that a revenue increase is necessary and inevitable. Although that "revenue" should come from taxing the lower strata (as I said earlier taxes on rich people needs to go DOWN).

Or we could continue on as we have. And we can join the likes of Greece, Portugal, and other nations that find themselves in very unenviable circumstances (even though that is a LIE, as the US being a country that controls it's own currency can NOT be compared to countries that do not).

The choices are ours. Lying Lester prays to the ghost of Ayn Rand that the citizenry somehow starts buying the lies of fools like him instead of doing what's right. Only then will the rich prosper even more and the poor and middle class suffer as they should.

Cliven Bundy's Heroic Stand Against A Fascist gOvernment

Hyperbolic partisan scumbags on the lEft (including one sEnate mAjority leader by the name of hArry rEid) have referred to the heroic Bundy as a "domestic terrorist". However, Bundy's racially-tinged comments as of late notwithstanding, the Bundy family has been grazing on that land for well over a century. Then Ronald Reagan comes along and decides ranchers who graze their cattle on public land should pay a fee?

And now, after 25 years of disobeying the law and not paying those fees (fees the BLM SAYS are for "upkeep" of the land), suddenly and astoundingly the fEds show up and attempt to strongarm Mr. Bundy into paying? Is the BLM the maffia of our public lands? Did Cliven not pay his "protection money"??

And, those endangered turtles haven't been harmed. Gadzooks, wouldn't you think that the feds would have a lot more important things to do than to hassle this poor bastard (you know, stuff like fighting ACTUAL CRIME)? I mean, talk about an astounding over-reach!

Sure, as some point out the fees for grazing cattle on private lands are astoundingly lower and Cliven is getting a free ride by not paying (and grazing his cattle for no cost at all), but astoundingly approximately 80% of Neveda is "federal land" if I understand it correctly.

What astounds me more than anything is that this exists and what confounds me is why it was allowed to happen. Cliven Bundy should be allowed to purchase the land he grazes his cattle on, and that million he supposedly owes could go toward the purchase price.

Yeah, then he would have to pay for upkeep of the land if he owned it, and likely it would end up costing him even more to graze his cattle if he owned the land instead of just mooching from those who do own it. And Cliven may like mooching just fine and decline to purchase the property... but... hmm, I'm not sure where I was going here.

Oh well. Right or wrong, I'm still pulling for Bundy. Because I hate sTatism. Perhaps the fEderal gOvernment could sell off some of the 80% (Wikipedia has it at 86%) of the land it owns and use the money to help pay down the debt. It sounds astoundingly like a win-win to me.

But methinks the only problem (for the feds anyway) is that at the point of sale it ceases to be the cash cow that keeps on giving. Or perhaps better put the cash cow they could no longer milk (even though the BLM charges significantly LESS than what private landowners charge for grazing).

Yeah, I think the facts says that Cliven is the one "milking" the BLM by grazing his cattle for free... but Lying Lester does not concern himself with such trivial matters as facts when it comes to getting outraged at the gOvernment. No siree!

A Lying Lester Tall Tail: The Affect of Voting Democrat

Democrats say Republicans are racist. Republicans say Democrats are racist. Others say both sides are equally quilty of racism, which is the side Lying Lester is inclined to believe. But if that side is also wrong I think that perhaps the Dems are the more racist of the two.

In fact, I'd go so far as to suggest that an affect of voting Democrat might be irrational racist behavior. Case in point, Wisconsin democratic candidate for governor Brett Hulsey...

Madison WI... Democratic candidate for governor Brett Hulsey plans to hand out white Ku Klux Klan-style hoods to Wisconsin Republicans as they gather for their annual convention Friday to highlight what he says are their racist policies.

Hulsey, a state representative from Madison who is white, came into the state Capitol press room on Thursday to show off a hood he says he made with his daughter's sewing machine using curtain material he purchased for $1.

"It's a Wisconsin Republican Party hat", Hulsey said. "And people can interpret it any way they want".

When asked whether he was serious, trying to be funny or provocative, Hulsey answered: "All of the above".

Hulsey, a two-term state representative, is running a long-shot campaign for the Democratic nomination against the better-funded and more broadly supported candidate Mary Burke. She is a former state commerce secretary and Trek Bicycle Corp. executive. Her campaign spokesman Joe Zepecki called Hulsey's latest stunt "completely unacceptable and totally inappropriate". (Link).

Is this straight out of the Twilight Zone or what? Hulsey, even *if* his intention was to say "Republicans racist" by wearing a "Wisconsin Republican Party hat", he was engaging in racist behavior himself.

Also, Lying Lester finds it interesting troubling that in the 21st century America apparently is incapable of having the honest dialogue that might move our nation forward forward forward forward forward forward forward forward to a place where discussion is no longer necessary.

The place where discussion would not be necessary would be a place where Libertarians with legitimate views were in charge, instead of Democrats with illegitimate views like this Hulsey kook. And Republicans with illegitimate views as well.

I don't know about you, but Lying Lester is sick and tired of the illegitimate view of both parties that sTatism is the answer to all our problems.

The Ignorance and Arrogance of Lester Nation

In my opinion I, Lying Lester, in my past attacks on the pResident belied both my basic ignorance of our republic as well as my arrogance. Arrogance that I actually argued that past words of our lEader were enough to deny this man, and I use the term loosely in this case, another term as pResident.

Forgive me my rational liberal friends for my bashing of the president for his statist leanings, although with this I have proven beyond any doubt that I am indeed clueless, in that I believe that even a Mitt Romney with all his baggage would have been preferable to this outrage!

I speak, of course, of the pResident's railing against the SCOTUS and the possibility that they may have struck down the ACA (AKA "ObamaFart")... in part, or perhaps just the mandate. Obama complained about the possibility that "an unelected group of people would somehow overturn a duly constituted and passed law".

But Lying Lester agreed with the 4/2/2012 WP article "Obama's unsettling attack on the Supreme Court" by Ruth Marcus that said...

Listening to the arguments and reading the transcript, the justices struck me as a group wrestling with a legitimate, even difficult, constitutional question. For the president to imply that the only explanation for a constitutional conclusion contrary to his own would be out-of-control conservative justices does the court a disservice. (link).

But, as we all know, the SCOTUS upheld ObamaFart and it is now law. Still I was right to criticize the pResident... criticisms I stand behind... and for that I am indeed ignorant as well as arrogant. But as a real man I must never admit I was wrong, and that is what is important here.

Is Lying Lester Really An Ayn Rand Worshipping Objectivist Or Just A Poser?

Is Lying Lester (me) really an Ayn Rand worshipping Objectivist or just a poser? I ask this question because I am currently reading a book by Thomas Piketty titled Capital in the Twenty-First Century.

The Amazon editorial review says this book is a "magisterial treatise on capitalism's inherent dynamics [and that] Piketty ends his book with a ringing call for the global taxation of capital.

A global taxation of capital? To what end? Money for government to hand out to the Takers? YES! Previously there is no way Lying Lester would read, let alone recommend a tome so antithetical to the teachings of the great philosopher, yet I do just that... recommend that the followers of my blog read it.

Now, why would Lying Lester do such a thing? That is a good question. One of my regulars, a fellow sTatism-hater like me, Will Hart, says "I don't know if it's so much untrammeled capitalism that's been causing the wealth disparity as it is the cronyism, the terrible regulatory burden on small businesses, the thoroughly bankrupt educational cartel controlled by the unions... etc".

Yeah, blaming government as well as unions is surely logic Lying Lester can get behind, and further taxing society's winners to subsidize society's losers (this "taxation of capital" idea) is absolutely the wrong way to go. That said, Lying Lester does not know why he's reading this (apparent?) piece of trash.

Oh, well. I am quite a ways in, so I think I'm going to reserve further comment until I complete the book. I do, after all, prefer thinking outside the box and setting old paradigms aside. And, it never hurts if people THINK you're open minded.

That said, I am not going to let this book turn me away from the true path as preached by Ayn Rand, which is that government is corrupt. And we surely do not want government to have any more money (stolen from the Makers in the form of taxation) to hand out to the Takers in order to buy their votes.

The Takers should be weaned off government gifts (money stolen from the Makers) and - those who realize they must work or die - will. And those who refuse to work will perish. Which is as it should be. Our nation is suffering from a parasitical infestation, and the solution is not to encourage the parasites to continue mooching, but to spray the poison and exterminate them.

So, is it irrational to recommend reading a book that says just that? You bet your sweet bippy it is! But Lying Lester has already admitted to extreme irrationality... and is in fact quite proud of it.

Lying Lester Believes The Atlases Should Shrug, Frankly

"Village idiot" is what the pRogressive collectivists call me, and you too can call me that if you like. Go ahead, I am used to it. Fact is I am damn proud of earning that moniker. I really don't care what the progressive collectivists think of my values and principles or the political views I hold.

Frankly I don't care because I know I am right. Since any rational value system must be based on objectivity, rather than emotionalism, the lEft always loses on purely logical and rational grounds. However, don't bother to attempt a rational discussion with them on this point because their emotionalism and altruistic inbred tendencies will of course make it impossible.

For pRogressives the Leviathan government is everything desirable (or needed) to take care of the needs of the people. For the sTatist the gOvernment IS the answer to all of the societal problems facing our nation today. Frankly, they simply refuse to recognize that gOvernment creates more problems than it solves.

On the other hand the rational adult realizes the road to success is the one that is paved by personal commitment, hard work, dedication, the pursuit of excellence, individual initiative, the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, the willingness to accept personal responsibility, the desire not only succeed but to be the very best at what they do, and the ability to bounce back when they fail. Above all they recognize that the Government is not the answer to their problems nor should it be considered the answer.

Sure, some people may fail due to no fault of their own. And some may fail and it is their own fault. But should we kick these people to the gutter instead of helping them up so they can acknowledge their mistakes (if they made any), and try again? Lying Lester frankly says YES.

Frankly, Lying Lester believes compassion for your fellow man is a weakness. Lying Lester cares only for himself and says "screw you" to those who try and fail and don't bounce back on their own. Frankly these people are garbage and need to be tossed out (figuratively). Frankly, I wish gOvernment would just get out of the way and allow people to either sink or swim.

That way the cream would rise to the top (which would include people like Lying Lester, BTW). Instead successful people like myself are drug down by taxing us to pay for handouts for society's losers. Perhaps it is time that us "Atlases" shrugged as they did in the great philosopher Ayn Rand's book? As long as the John Galts of the world are willing to continue to work their proverbial asses off and continue producing we'll be okay.

For a little while longer. But the clock is ticking. Sooner or later there will not be any John Galts left. An altruistic and collectivist nation and world will have sucked the energy and life out of us. This is why I believe the Atlases like me should shrug like John Galt did in the great philosopher's novel.

What would this "shrugging" entail? Frankly, it would be voting Libertarian. Vote Libertarian and shrug off the Leviathan government that both the lEft and the Right support. Frankly it is the only hope we have of avoiding the total destruction of our country at the hands of the Takers.
