Lester Nation The Proud Mental Masturbator

In regards to my joke blog, rAtional nAtion uSA, I'd like to clue my readers into a hearty ha-ha that I recently pulled at the expense of the blogger I like to call "Dervo". Or, a joke is what I've decided to call it. In actuality I screwed up when I referred to Dervo as someone who engages in "mental masturbation". Turns out I didn't know what "mental masturbation" means.

I should have looked up the term before using it, because, as it turns out, I used it incorrectly. That is egg on my face, no doubt. Given that I've been using the term so much recently, it occurred to me (after typing it for the umpteenth time) that I wasn't positive I had the definition correct. Well, after a Google search I found out that "mental masturbation" really refers to "intellectual activity that serves no practical purpose".

Huh. Now that I've looked it up, it REALLY sounds like "mental masturbation" applies to my pursuit of the teachings of the great philosopher, Ayn Rand. As well as my entire political outlook. I mean, I voted for Gary Johnson in the last election, a dude that received less than one percent of the popular vote and absolutely zero electoral votes. I spent a lot of time talking up Mr. Johnson on RNUSA and on other blogs. "Hop aboard the liberty train and see where it takes you", I said.

Yeah, I rationalized my Johnson-ballot-casting by claiming that if enough people voted for my man Gary it would build the momentum for a viable, strong, and vibrant Libertarian Party. But did that happen? NO! It was all a complete waste of time given that Mr. Johnson had no chance - and still has - no chance at all of ever being elected president. And also given the fact that the Libertarian Party always has been, and will likely always remain a fringe Party and ideology.

Reading, studying and proselytizing in regards to the teachings of Ayn Rand is undoubtedly a huge waste of time as well. If that isn't "mental masturbation", I don't know what is. Given that fact, I feel a heartfelt apology from me to Dervo is quite rightly in order. I had no right what-so-ever of accusing this fine blogger of wasting his time with his excellent blog Sleeping with The Devil.

While it is true that all the rEpublicans and many of the dEmocrats (including the pResident) could certainly be described as Conservative, it is also true that the Progressive caucus is the largest Congressional caucus. Therefore, the "intellectual activity" that Dervo engages in on his blog might actually serve a purpose, in that there are members of Congress that are of a like mind as this outstanding blogger, whereas I am in disagreement with the totality of all members of our federal government. Even Libertarians like Rand Paul, who one might think I'd be an admirer of... I am in strong disagree with him as well on most issues.

So, should I allow the fact that the chances that my political philosophies are ever instituted in Washington are absolutely bupkus get me down? I was using "mental masturbation" in a derogatory sense when I applied it to Dervo, after all. One might think I'd abandon Objectivism and Libertarianism given how completely useless my pursuit of them are.

But, NO! Mental masturbation in pursuit of the truths expounded upon by the great philosopher may serve no practical purpose, but I will continue to mentally masturbate in pursuit of these truths nonetheless. Fact is, in this regard I am a PROUD mental masturbator! Some may view this stance as illogical and irrational... and I completely agree with them!

So... in conclusion: I, Lying Lester am proud to be an irrational mental masturbator... just like my hero, the great philosopher, Ayn Rand. If you're mentally masturbating on the subject of Rand, that is good. If you're mentally masturbating in regards to any other intellectual activity - say, pRogressivism - that is definitely bad. And, while the pRogressive caucus is large, they are largely ineffective. So take that Dervo!

Extreme Irrationality Totally Normal For Lying Lester

Over on my other blog I'm promoting the hell out of this new blog of mine... with the hope of driving some traffic here. This new blog, in contrast to RNUSA will be totally serious. I may even transition from RNUSA to this sight (making this one my primary blog). I do, however encourage all who are desirous of a belly splitting laugh to visit RNUSA, which is (and always has been) my humor/satire blog... which explains the joke of my attributing this blog to someone else... when the person responsible is, of course, me, Lying Lester.

In any case - and just to be clear - I lied on RNUSA when I said someone other than me created this blog. The narrative put forward on the RNUSA sight is that this other blogger was "driven mad" by my superior wit and rational thought, and the only way he could retaliate was to set up this "spoof" blog. Or, that is what I fooled one commenter into believing, at least.

But the truth is that I, Lying Lester, am solely responsible for this blog, as I already mentioned. While I'd like to believe (and have others believe) that I drove this other blogger mad, nothing could be further from the truth.

The fact is that I'm a bit jealous of the wit and intelligence of this other blogger, which is why I banned him from my sight and lied about him being a hypocrite and less than truthful. His 100 percent truthful arguments were simply too compelling to allow them to stand. I mean, it was totally frustrating for me to post on whatever topic and then have this individual come along and totally destroy my logic.

Not to mention the fact that two of my regulars (Will Hart and dmarks) were continually having their butts whooped (metaphorically) by this other blogger. Which is why he had to go. Although I did have some fun with him for awhile... publishing some of his comments while rejecting others. And attempting to turn the commenting on his blog into a "crap fest". I am embarrassed to say that acting like a total a-hole on his blog gave me great pleasure.

So, why the complete honesty here, you might ask? Why not lie as I usually do? Aside from this NOT being a humor blog... I don't know. It might be that deep down I have a lot of respect for him (the person I banned)? Or it might be that I simply needed a place where I could cut loose and be a tiny bit more honest?

All the lying I do every day, both on my primary blog, as well as on the blogs of several others who I visit regularly, can take a toll on a person. Even if it is all just in good fun. Also, confession is good for the soul... or so I hear. Although I am a godless atheist, so I don't know why I'd listen to any advice put forward by any person of faith.

No, the real reason that I'm confessing here while saying something contrary elsewhere (in attributing this blog to someone who is not me) is because I am a very irrational person. As per the definition, I am acting in a manner not in accordance with reason, or utterly illogically... which is actually quite within the norm for me, Lying Lester.

And, if you are having a hard time believing me on that, I promise to provide some examples with my upcoming commentaries. These are commentaries that will surely prove that I, Lying Lester, am a completely illogical fellow who believes in acting irrationally... which is, believe it or not, very much in line with how the great philosopher lived her life (see my last post for my thoughts on that subject).

Or, it could be an elaborate hoax, that I, Lester Nation, am perpatrating in order to feed my ego. Set up a "spoof" blog and blame it on some other guy that I wish others to think poorly of. Yeah, that might work. That, or the irrational thing. Either one could explain the existence of this blog. Or this could indeed be a spoof blog. But I consider that explanation to be very unlikely. In the end I will leave it for you to decide, but you'd be a fool to think that last option is the one that is correct... but that is only the opinion of an admitted liar.

Hypocrites Enslaved by Looters And Moochers

File the following under "the timeless wisdom of Ayn Rand"...

Rand herself called altruism a "basic evil" and referred to those who perpetuate the system of taxation and redistribution as "looters" and "moochers". She wrote in her book "The Virtue of Selfishness" that accepting any government controls is "delivering oneself into gradual enslavement".

With this truth presented by the sage Mrs. Rand, I, Lester Nation, am in 100 percent agreement. Now, it may be true that Mrs. Rand - later in life - applied for and was accepted into the social security and Medicare programs - thereby making her one of the Takers she so despised. But surely one cannot expect a person to adhere to their own philosophies that prohibit looting and mooching when they get sick? Of course not! That is the time, of course, for such philosophies to be chucked out the window...

Rand... believed that the scientific consensus on the dangers of tobacco was a hoax. By 1974, the two-pack-a-day smoker, then 69, required surgery for lung cancer. And it was at that moment of vulnerability that she succumbed to the lure of collectivism.

Sure, one could argue that since she had paid into these systems, Rand was entitled to her money back. But that is the entire point of these programs! You pay in, and you get your ENTITLEMENT!

So, using the logic of Rand, was she a moocher and looter who was delivering herself into enslavement by accepting government assistance? You bet your sweet bippy she was! But this is why I love Rand so much... she was a huge hypocrite - JUST LIKE ME!

Welcome to Lying Lester's Irrational Nation

Greetings parasites (as most of you most assuredly are), my name is Lester Nation, but you can call me Lying Lester. If you like reading the idiotic and hypocritical ramblings of a devoted Ayn Rand worshiper, this is the blog for you.

Undoubtedly most of you who stumble upon this blog are worthless Takers, and may be offended by the stark truths I plan to reveal here. That is of no consequence to me, as you are nought but lice in the eyes of the great philosopher. So you can move on.

If, however, you are an enlightened individual who recognizes that greed and rational self interest are indeed virtues, then I suggest you stick around, as the proprietor of this blog is a deluded fool who believes just that.

OK, so that about does it for this introductory posting, although, for the record I should note that this is NOT a parody blog. It is possible, however, that I might be lying about that. You'll have to use your best judgement and decide for yourself.
